QUALIFICATIONS AND CAREER PROFILE
Dinah Ashcroft DHP, MSc, Cert.Sup. Psychotherapy and Counselling
- I am a psychotherapist registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)
- I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
- I am an Associate Tutor and Examiner at the Metanoia Institute in London
I began my working life as a teacher in secondary education.
My first counselling training was a two-year Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Psychology (DHP), which involved a lot of personal and creative work. This enabled me to facilitate adult groups in personal development.
I gained an MSc in Gestalt Psychotherapy. This involved many years of training, personal therapy and clinical supervision.
While running a private psychotherapy practice with mainly long-term clients, I also worked in Primary Care as a GP surgery counsellor. This enabled me to develop my skills in short-term counselling for a wide range of presenting issues.
For many years I helped develop and run a BACP accredited counselling training in a college of further education.
I have a Certificate in Supervision and work with supervisees from many modalities. I have trained in CBT methods of working with post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders and phobias.
With two colleagues, I have recently completed the translation from French into English of a book by a French-Canadian theorist and practitioner who has developed a method of integrating Object Relations and Gestalt Psychotherapy.
I am committed to ongoing training and professional development.
